Default Need help picking a paint gun

To finish up the interior project I need to re-dye some of the pieces. I've not had much luck with the spray cans so I got a quart of the dye. Looking for advice on spray guns, what size tip, etc. I have a 3hp compressor so I should be ok for this project. Also, any tips from someone who has done it this way would be appreciated!

Until I get this done I'm stuck driving a FORD Mustang!

Thanks

Rodger

If all you are dong is to redye some small interior stuff go to Harbor Freight or someplace like that and get a small 8 ounce touch up gun for about 30 bucks. Thats about all your compresser can handle anyway.

When I get ready to do this job, will get a HF el-cheapo gun to use a couple of times and throw away after all pieces are painted... If you catch HF at the right time, you can get a HVLP for $9.95... The little touchup gun Skip's recommending is probably even less... I can't use the little mini-guns, and feel more comfortable with a full-size... My compressor is a little bigger than yours as well...

This seems to be a recurring problem

I might stop by HF on the way home from work tomorrow and see what they have. Never thought of them.

Thanks

Like I always tell my wife, it's not the size of the gun, it's how you use it.

As long as the SCFM on your compressor is greater than the SCFM on the gun at the pressure required you will be OK. I have painted whole cars with a 20 gallon 2 HP compressor and never had a problem with it keeping up.

Harbor freight has some small touchup guns that will do the job.
