Wondering if anyone else has dealt with this problem.
I replaced the turn signal switch and wires on my 80 Vette. Noticed that when turning the key to the start position, it has to move forward more than before I replaced the turn signal switch. Was wondering if the wires somehow are interfering with the gear and rod that operate the start switch. The new wires were really a pain to get thru the steering column. Also the wires were not long enough to plug into the terminal mounted on the steering column.
Should I pull the wiring harness back out and start over or drop the steering column so I can see what's going on? The car starts but I don't feel it will reliable working this way.

Sounds like the wires are somehow interfering with the ignition switch rod. I would hate to think that somewhere down the road the wires would wear through, short out and cause a fire. I think I would first pull the wires back out to see if the ignition works properly without the wires in. If it does you found your problem.
