It's possible...the section width (255) may nominally be the same, but actual tread width can vary between different tire brands and lines within the same manufacturers lines of tires.
One way tire companies can save some costs on a particular tire is to mold some tires with a narrower tread, though the sectional width is the same. You'll see that often on "special purchase" or discount line tires.
