Started to clean up my AC duct for some repair and I noticed this piece of steel that was pop riveted in. It is designed to deflect more air to the driver side. Two questions, is this stock and is getting air bias to the driver a problem in its stock configuration? It has been a while since I inserted a picture so if this does not work I will figure it out.
It would make sense, since the cold air has longer to flow, and more time to warm, to send more cold air to the drivers side. Kind of like a damper in an AC duct in your house. If they are not setup correctly, you will have some rooms much too cold, and others to warm. My guess is that piece is there to try to have the air leaving the drivers side duct be the same temperature as the air leaving the passenger side duct.
i completely rebuilt the ac system on my 72.......don't remember anything like that, but the way my memory is that doesn't mean a whole lot,i'm gonna look through the pictures and see if its there.
It looks like over kill to me. Almost like diverting 80% of the air to the driver. That is why I was un-sure. If it was smaller I would not have given it a second thought.
