Default Fresh Air intake stuck open

79 Corvette.

I took out my passanger seat today and noticed rust on the floor screws. I went ahead and pulled the carpet up and saw rusty floor boards. My husband said the Fresh air intake was stuck open and he suspects water is leaking in.

I sprayed water in by the windshield wiper to see if I could see a leak and saw it dripping in by the molding by the kick panel.

Any ideas how to close the air intake?

Thanks!

Finding the leak will be not fun and once you find it Many times what happens is years of leaves and residue will build up and it clogs the drains from the windshield area or your heater box could have a seal leak and you will need to clean these drains out or reseal your heater box. There are drains on each side of your windsheild that drain down to the underbody and these might be clogged up. I have used a plastic rod or a coat hanger straighten out to clean mine out in the past on other cars starting from the bottom up.
