I took the leap Sunday and picked up my first Vette. It's an 80 model, a decent driver that is going to get a lot of TLC as time goes on. It's not a numbers matching car (which doesn't matter to me), it's a good solid 20 footer and so far my wife and I have really enjoyed driving it around the last couple of days. She took my son to school in it yesterday and he was grinning ear to ear. I'm ready to start tweaking but they don't want to stop driving it long enough for me to begin working on it.
Gonna get started on a list of needs now/ needs soon/ needs one day/ wants etc.......
I suspect I'll have a list of questions to bug you guys with. Oh, and I know that I owe you guys pictures and I'm working on that.
In addition to the term "mid-life crisis" that so many people have use when they here that I bought a Vette it is also an underhanded scheme to lure my son away from his Xbox360 etc....!

I tell them "this is my Harley"!!!
Damn good idea.....kids need to get outside and get involved....have a hobby and some passion!
Congrats!! My dad & I bought my '78 together to work on & drive almost 15 years ago, and now that he's gone it makes having it so much more special! Enjoy the time you get to spend with your son working on the car!!
I love my '80. She's not perfect, but she is all mine. I tell people- "Hey, I don't smoke, golf, fish, hunt, own a boat/motorcycle/ATV, attend pro sporting events, engage the services of call girls or drug dealers, and rarely drink or gamble... a guy's got to have SOME way to spend his children's inheritance!"

Congrats on your new 'Vette and I'm glad your wife and son enjoy it as much as you do! That big grin she had is the reason we have these cars! Sure beats driving the mundane, boring commuter car we all have to drive.
Almost done with my 80. Did a full resto with a high output small block. Did the project with a lot of help from forum members, couldn't have done it without them and the great vendors we deal with. Being a fan of the 80 to 82 body style, it's nice to see another one join the ranks.
Good luck with it and stay in touch!!....Vince

Welcome to the club and enjoy. Save the wave!
QFT as do I. I hate sports, dont drink much anymore, my only other "vice" is my firearm collection and I have pretty much quit it given todays prices and atmosphere.
I did play a lot of xbox myself until the last year or two so maybe I got myself away from it.
Its tough to be a middle aged geek and have a corvette afinity. I dont have kids or a wife to spend my money either.
This is great news. Another '80 owner. Way to go! I've owned two of these classy ladies. The second one I'm doing a frame-off on. As you get into the car, any questions you have will be answered here. We all love C3's and many own 80's.
