I'm new to this forum but have read much posted here. I have 72 that got half way through a previous restoration. The front clip was taken off but broken into many piece. I have a new driver's side fender and I think I can slavage the inner skirts and passenger side. A large portion of the surround is missing. I haven't seen any advice on how to rebuilt the front end. I was hoping to use what I have and not buy a one piece only because the budget is very limited. Any advice one how to do this? Can i start by mounting the inner skirts and then the fenders, and then bond the suround? Thanks for all the info shared on this site.

Not quite. The inner skirts bolt to the radiator support. Position will be temporary while you align the remaining panels. At the factory, they used a jig which held all the pieces of the front clip (including the radiator support) in perfect alignment while the bonding agent cured. In the real world, we do not have the luxury of the jig. What you will need to do is align the hood surround panel ensuring you get good hood gaps; align the fenders with the hood surround; fit these three to the skirts. Bonding the panels occurs after you have everything set where you want it.
My advice would be to purchase some of the Corvette repair books and read up on how to install a clip. The Glas-Ra set is very good. http://www.glas-ra.com/
Eckler's also had a reasonably good repair book if it is still available.
