I put my 82 in storage for the winter at a local storage facility about 10 miles from my house. Back in March we had a few day stretch of nice weather so I went got the car. Of course I had to jump it as I expected and once I ran it for the day it started just fine for the next few days as I used it. I put it back in storage and even though I vowed to go there once a week to start it I did not.
So this Sunday the weather was beautiful so my wife and I went over to get the car. Of course it needed to be jumped again but after about 10 minutes it started just fine. We rode around for the afternoon stopping at different places shutting off and starting the car no problems.
Monday was equally as beautiful so I decided to drive it to work. I had to jump it that morning (which back in March I did not once I drove it for a while). I got to work no problem and ran out three times during the day no problem starting. On my way home I stopped to get a soda and was in the store not 2 minutes, came out and clicking. Got someone to jump it and got home fine.
Now I have noticed that I am having sparking on both the Positive and negative cables when I am trying to jump it and I hear current running through the negative with no jumper cables hooked up. So I am assuming I have something that is on a constant draw. It was not like this when I put it away for the winter and I don't know where to start to look for the problem.
Joe I would first have to ask how old is your battery? it maybe time to replace it.
if not I would recommend that you remove the battery form the car and slow charge it overnight.
I had the same problem with mine this year and the battery is only 1.5 years old. I slow charged it and good to go.
Thank You Larry, I would say it is at least 2 years old. If that is the fix I would be most happy. I was just checking to see if there were thoughts that I had something else going on before I bought a new battery and drained that one too.

The battery may be weak. Have it charged and tested.
The alternator cannot recharge a extremely low battery.
Clean all the battery and ground connections and that should do it.

constantly letting a battery die and re-jumping it is not good for the battery or alterantor
Picked up a new battery on the way home from work, changed it out when I got home. headed out to Ocean City for the Cruisers and some dinner with my wife and all was good tonight.
If there is an AC outlet close to your Corvette where you store it during the winter, you'd be ahead of the game if you buy a float charger and keep it hooked up whenever the car is parked. A small Battery Tender Jr. is all you need. It will extend the life of your battery many years, and make life easier for your alternator.
