Default replaceing front emblem on a 81

I got the front emblem off but looking for something to clean off the old sticky stuff without harming the paint?also in the aims manual it states to clamp it on for several hours,anybody have any tips on that? thanks

A product called Goo Gone works great on the sticky stuff and will not harm the paint.

That's how they were supposed to do it on the assembly line, but they did not wait for hours. The AIM also talks about heating the emblem. Your replacement flags probably use emblem tape.

thanks guys that's what I thought of go gone but was not sure what it would do to the paint,job is done my old one was faded bad and the new one really looks good
