I'm picking up a pair of hooker headers and side pipes for CHEAP (I'm SOOOO excited!!!!!!!!!). I did make sure they are for a small block (I have a 350). Are there any modifications I have to do for these to fit? I ask because my car is getting painted this weekend or the beginning of next week..
Although the previous owner mounted them on mine, I can tell you that both rocker trim pieces will need to be trimmed. The passenger side needs about 1/2" trimmed from the bottom as the primaries pass below. Both of them need to be notched slightly to cover the side pipe mounts as well, but, those modifications are hidden and reversible if needed.
The biggest issue I have is that the clamp for the side pipes has worn a pretty deep groove in both sides from the engine movement, which will require complete replacement if I ever go back to undercar exhaust!
Either leave the rocker trim off, which some do, or pick up a set of replacement trim pieces and save the originals.

I bought a used set of moldings from a guy in Michigan for $100.00 and painted them black except the top thin piece, so mine didn't get hurt I really like that look. I also did not have to trim anything so maybe yours will fit with no triming.

I run mine without rocker panel off. With huge chrome/stainless pipes covering most 2/3 of the car, it's no biggie to have them off.
