Default Mounted Seats for 1980 question

Got my mounted leather seats today. Look great! Thanks Wilcox. I see Wilcox has a install section on their site. Is there a tool I can use to help push these wires into the hooks? Any ideas are appreciated! Thanks.

I bought the mounted seats from Willcox also

Take a long, flat blade screwdriver and grind a notch into the tip....that will allow you to push the wire into the clip

Yup. I bought a gigantic screwdriver from Hazard Frought - er, Harbor Freight. Came in a two pack for a couple bucks. Ground probably a 1/4" into it. The metal's cheap so it grinds easy.

You really have to put some muscle into getting this done, and have to flex the seat leather and foam a lot more than you'd like. The motion is sort of towards the bucket and slightly inboard, then towards and to the right. Very satisfying when done.

It takes a bit of mileage to get the seats to drop but man, they look and feel great now...

(new seat on right, old one (pre-replacement) on left)

Exactly what we use in the shop. We also put a bend in it too, about 25 degree's. Seems to work better for pushing inward down and then pulling back. Hooking them can be a task for sure.

Thanks for the orders you all.

Just got the drivers side in. Shaved a little foam away around where the wires fit into the clips. I bent the clips out a little bit to give me a little more room. I had a brake adjuster tool there but didn't need it. They hooked right in. Look great!!!

I did the seat cushion first, then the backrest. Makes the side panels and carpet look old now. LOL.

Passenger side is in. I knew I would pay the price for the drivers side going in so easy.
Much tougher to get them in.
Would anyone have use for the old seats? The drivers seat bottom is ripped up but the passenger side bottom and two backrests are not ripped. Keep in mind these seats were original.
