Silver now but will be RED, RED, RED. To the point where when I pass by, folks may not know the make or model but they'll sure know it's RED.
Maybe start a new thread - why Corvettes should not be WHITE.
Not meaning to step on any toes, but can't see the point of owning a white hot rod.
I haven't got around to doing the body and paint on my vette yet. But, you would be surprised how many people really like the white and get positive comments on it.
When we look back in retrospect 70ies colors or combination were brutal.ask yourself what colors did corvette retain.take for instance a XKE Jag looks best in green with natural leather interior. Corvette takes on two shades of green then combines with horrible green interior. Corvette never repeated this again.sometimes it is not the color but what it is use on ,a red corvette convertible ------ beautiful and still very popular in 2013 however used on a full size car ------ horrible.somtimes even the years effect color choice like white red interior ,1953 corvette nice but you use on 1969 and it is bland not bad but the car needs pizzas to bring out fender contours.lets face it corvette stylist were lazy in the day. Ontario orange ----- nice but with plastic ( vinyl ) tan interior ? What were they thinking? Brown corvette ------ are you serious?

back in 1980, i got a friend 3k off his new corvette because it was brown. the deader admitted it was a mistake to have ordered it
And the message of the book is what...that all Corvettes should be red because everybody likes red and wants to have one? Or is the book written in the same line as "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" and have some deeper, heavier theme?
My current and former ZO6s are/were red.
As for the book title, the author was observing a meeting of Corvette engineers, and as he tells it, during a very long discussion about future colors, one engineer piped up and said, "All Corvettes are red, the rest are just mistakes." The point being the discussion had gone on way too long.
I think Dave McLellan's book Corvette From The Inside was far more interesting as it was about the car, not corporate workings. But, to each his own. Dave, by the way, became Corvette Chief Engineer when Zora retired.
Funny, I`ve made a similar statement.... "Did ALL Corvettes have to be red at some point in their life?
Our 71 coupe was born in Steel Cities Gray. But the original owner turned it red. The second owner left it that way. We`re the 3rd owner, and it is now back to it`s original color..... and I thinks it`s thankful!
1 red one here, it always draws positive comments. Another in primer. Color yet to be determined.
About the book, All corvettes are red. I did read it. My take was it dragged on, often rehashing the same material. Then it abruptly ended. Like the author lost his way while writing. I read where he got divorced while writing the book. Probably explains the tempo.
Pretty car. Are those hardtop marks on your rear deck?
It looks like a Convertible Top Decklid Protector, a die-cut piece of clear plastic designed to avoid marring the paint. I have two, for the soft and hard tops. I have only used the hardtop piece and it seems to work quite well. The Corvette vendors sell them.
