I just bought another project, like I really needed it. I stumbled across a 76 L-48 automatic with a lot of potential, plus it's a driver already. A little dickering and $2800 made it mine. I can't tell that it was ever hit or hurt, but is is an odd combination of 76 and 77 parts with a very good running GenII engine which was supposed (and we all know how that goes) to be out of a cop car. The frame is perfect and the suspension bushings are in very good condition. Currently it is white but under that is the original blue with blue leather interior. I'm sure it has a few bugs but it is a good start towards daily transportation. Is there a chance that late 76 and early 77 cars might have shared some trim parts? Other than the emblems (flags and scripts), what other differences are there? It has tilt/tele so it has the nice steering wheel. Any ideas?

Yep that is my understanding, get a 76 AIM and you can check the dates for various revisions. 76 to 77 had more than most years sharing is what I have read. Of course most all Corvettes have a colorful history, so who know what things previous owners have done.
Hope this helps. Congratulations on what sounds like a great buy!!!
Good luck with the car. Thats funny, "the motors out of a cop car" I havent heard that line since I was a kid. Didnt think it was still around.
I'm an old school kind of guy. It sounded pretty normal to me. BTW "Police Interceptor" was what Ford called their cop motors even though we tend to use it for all police car engines. Not sure what GM used back in the day.
And so far this one has "Bubba" written all over it. At least i can drive it like it is. More fun that way! My 80 seems to stay in project mode most of the time so drive time is very limited at the moment.
