Default Paging Ernie Willcox, 4 spd. reverse rod

Ernie, Can you tell me what the difference is for the reverse shifter rod on the 74-76 than on the 68-73. I sold a shifter to a friend and the reverse rod on the linkage I sold him is a bit short. Can a rod be bought for a 74 without buying the whole shifter linkage kit. Thanks in advance

Phil Zell

There appears to be a difference between the 69-73 and the 74-79.

Phil... I just saw this.. I've been stuck behind a computer for the last two days straight thanks to our good friends at Uverse and At&t.. whom decided our router needed to be replace and proceeded to scramble our entire system.....

I will look at this tomorrow because....

We'll because I don't know the answer off the top of my head.

I wish I did.. let me see what I can do tonight.. maybe I can get you a good answer...

The lower part of the shifter is the same so the difference would have to be the lever on the transmission.... Did you sell him the linkage, shifter and all????

Ernie

Okay Phil.. the quiz is over for me..

All the rods and transmission levers are different according to the AIM and our supplier file.

If your friend uses the all the linkage including the transmission levers he shouldn't have any issue. But if he's mixing the two then he will.

74-81 reverse rod was the same.. 69-73 reverse rod was the same..
74-76 reverse lever on transmission was different. 69-73 was the same...

Mixing and matching might be the problem! I know of no reason why it installed as a set (including the t/m levers) they wouldn't swap out. .
