How bad does it have to be?

I am stunned by the great condition of the paint on the 944. Would you mind telling me what was wrong with it, that you got it so cheap? Did it drive, etc...? Was it a 5-speed, or slushbox?
And re: your $900. 'Vette: again, I'd love to know what issues both of these cars had, that allowed you to snag them so cheaply. Was it an auto (which I assume it was, if it's really an '82?).
Are you one of those guys with an inside line to insurance co. auctions or something? LOL
Thanks.
The later C3 cars are at rock bottom prices. It is time to grab them if that is what you are in to
I have a 63 Split Window and a fully loaded 72, 454 ,4-speed car.
The price thing is why I bring this up.
My real good friend paid $700 for his Split Window. A lot of years ago Split Windows, you could not give one away. They have a terrible problem when you drive them the air builds up in the back and makes your ears pop over and over again. Plus, you cannot see out the back with the post there.
It was so bad that GM offered to have people bring them in so they could cut out the split and put a 64 window in it. You could also cut a hole in the back to let a small amount of air out so your ears did not feel the pressure that is created.
My point was, the cars were thought of as junk. I almost bought one in High School, but was talked out of it.
So, he paid $700 for his Split Window and his friends laughed at him. They all had 69 tri-power cars and thing like that.
His $700 seems cheap. A few years down the road I paid $7,500 for a fuel injected Split Window. My partner laughed that I had to pay so much.
These cars have been sitting in our garages for a few years now. Now, of course, they are one of the most desirable cars out the say to the 67 big blocks.
We have another friend that bought a Split Window three years ago. He paid $45,000 and spent another $50,000 restoring it. I have to admit I laugh a bit.
The bottom line is we all have a $100,000 car sitting in our garages. You never know what is going to happen to car prices in the future.
Personally, I think prices are going to plumit.
There are a ton of older guys, like my first friend, that are getting up there in his years. There is not enough people to buy all the cars that are going to hit the market in 20 years. The 10 years old kids now are going to have the pick of muscle car for a song.
I am one of the lucky few who have almost nothing into my cars. Maybe as much as $30,000 in the Split Window to get it all dolled up.
The crazy guys buying these high dollar cars now are nuts. They are going to loose their asses if they hang on to their cars too long.
So, buy what you can afford. Enjoy driving it or restoring it. To hell with every body else.
But watch out for the rust buckets that are just going to keep taking your money and you will have nothing at the end to show for it.
Just enjoy them and have fun.

You've got two votes for a new thread so far--is that enough? Wait--my multiple personalities chimed in--many more votes for a new thread!

Just thought I'd pass that along.
Oh, I also found on the body tag that the car was originally silver. Hmm, so I won't feel too badly if I change the color.
Would have been looking for a sexy young passenger when she was up and running
