Default fire hazard

You can see my problem is the rubber fuel line into the Holley carb. I can't find the parts I think I need at local parts stores to create a hard line. Would like to get rid of the banjo fitting in favor of some screw in fitting. Might also like to install a fuel pressure gauge at the same time. Pictures, descriptions and part locations would sure be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Matt

70-72 LT-1s had Holley carburetors, but possibly a different model than yours. They also had steel fuel lines from the factory. The LT-1 set up might work for you.

I lost a 69 SS nova to a rubber fuel hose, hose is ok for a connection to the fuel filter . but not to run all around the engine compartment.

I hate Fire, lost my 58 belair to fire , but that was electrical.

summitracing will have all the goodies you need to make custom fuel lines if you're not trying to be factory original......

I believe Lars has papers on how to bend your own lines.

Get a piece of 3/8 brake tubing from your local parts store. Bend that to run up from the pump. Summit and Jeg's both have banjo fittings that will connect to the carb. Makes it easy to put an inline filter just before the carb. If you use -AN fittings, (most of the filters have -6AN male fittings), make sure you get the correct flaring tool. You can also use inverted flare fittings, it really doesn't matter which, but you have to make double flares for them. -AN uses a single flare with a sleeve and a nut.
You're on the right track to get rid of that rubber line.

THey sell a hardline for the 4160 with filter, the rest I've bend myself with AN flaring. On the other side, it still uses a banjo fitting.

Thanks for the information so far. Going to bump this just once to see if there are anymore options. Also curious what is preferable, banjo or screw in fitting?

Your choice. Depending on how YOU want to route the fuel line for clearance to the air cleaner and any other accessories. The straight screw in fitting might flow a little more, but for your current carb and performance level, I don't think it'll make much difference.

I know the arguments against rubber fuel lines, but it didn't seem to bother Chevrolet too much.

64-65 Corvette 327/350 & 365's, used a Holley 4150, with a banjo fitting, an external filter (an AC GF-90) and a rubber fuel line. Chevrolet use a hard line from the pump to the filter, and a short (6") rubber hose, from the filter to the banjo fitting in the carb.

For 66 Chevrolet replaced the Holley 4150, with an internal filter version of the 4160, and ran a hard line from the pump to the carb.

If you need to use an inline filter, you could use the stock 64-65 327/350 lines and filter. Replacing the rubber filter to carb hose, with a braided steel one, would provide a clean, safe set up.

The 327/350 line is chrome plated too!
