Blue or Blue?
I am finishing up a frame off restoration on a 73 convertible. It was a barn find in a garage in Cincy, husband passed away 10 years ago, wife finally just wanted to out of the garage… No documentation but had the original block (aftermarket heads, intake, etc), original Muncie 4 speed, and a period correct rear case (I assume original but no way to tell for sure). It was repainted dark green but was originally Elkhart Green with black interior. It was significantly "bubba'd" and it had some rust in the birdcage. I pulled the body, stripped and powdercoated the frame, rebuilt and/or upgraded everything including wilwood replacement brakes, VBP suspension, bluprinted steering box, etc. The reason I tell you this is I am not building a NCRS car. Just a nice driver…
So, now with the background out of the way, the reason I am posting. I am going to deviate from Elkhart Green to a shade of blue. I would like to go with a blue from the C3 family and have narrowed it down to 2. I need to choose by Friday so I am wondering if there are folks that have seen both of these and could comment. I have looked at a ton of pictures but the same color looks completely different depending on the picture. I am looking for a metallic blue. I like the 73 (927) Dark Blue but am afraid it is too purple in the sunlight (just from pictures)? The other is 70 Bridgehampton Blue.
Can anyone that has seen both help with some highlights of the differences of these two colors?
BTW I have a 71 Z28 in Mulsanne Blue, that would be my first choice but don’t want 2 cars in the same color

Thanks!!!!

Had I bought one in 73 that (927 Dark Blue) is the color I would have bought! The picture in your sig looks fantastic! Thanks for the insight on the purple (or lack there of).

My twin girls and "daddy's hotrod". Gonna be trouble in a few years

The Z isn't done yet. 8 months into body work
. It is ready for paint but I am taking a couple of weeks off to paint the vette. The Z is a bit more of a project. I am building it into a pro-touring car.

That's for looking and the input on paint!

Looking forward to seeing all the progress. Good luck.
Very nice work!!! I'm partial to '73 verts as well... You'll probably kill me as mine came in Dark Blue/Blue, but changing it to Black/Red... Couldn't imagine working on two different projects at the same time... Sometimes it is a struggle to concentrate on just one car!!! Keep it up...

However, if Mulsanne Blue is your fav, why not paint them both the same color? I say do that.

. And yes, I do have the most understanding wife in the world. Its been decided, i am painting it Dark Blue with Black top and interior. Gonna get this one buttoned up and hopefully running this summer and then back to the Z.
Thanks for the replies all!!!
Thanks for the help and support of the forum over the years, it is amazing to have a question and just be able to search here and find the answers!

This shot gives a good view of the color in both shade and sun! My avatar pic is the old shade.

Good luck!
