Default 72 bumper extension seal question

The new rubber seals that go around the frame to bumper extensions are slit open quite a bit off center (low by about an inch). This pretty much matches the images online

When I put them on they don't actually cover the bottom of the hole in the inner fender. I'd have to open the cut-out by about 1/2" on the top just to get enough meat on the bottom to put a stable back in. The originals were all hard and cracked and didn't fit worth @#($ but I figured it was because they were old and tired.

Just wondering if the set I got are NFG or that's just how they fit (torn on the top)

Anyone know of a source for just blank pieces of that rubber where I can cut my own?

Thanks
M

I have a 72 and the old ones I took off are the same size as the new ones. I saved the old ones so I could put the staples in the same holes. I think L got them at Dr Rebuild

I dug out the old ones and although in pieces, I can see that the top of the slot was all curled up and pushed about 1/2 high. By the looks of the overspray etc it only covered the bottom of the hole by about 1/4".

I'm going to look for some rubber and see about cutting a new set closer to center.

Thanks for checking

Just closing off the thread
I ended up making a set of seals (used a set of A-Arm flaps, only thing I could find cheaply)

Here's how far I ended up moving the slots for the bracket, the marker shows the location of the slots in the replacement seals, the cut-outs are where I needed them in order to locate the seals over the hole in the inner fender.

New one on the left, purchased on the right

Oddly enough, the small cutout to align the seal is in about the right location, my brackets are sitting high according to the purchased (and the old original seals) but closer to centered in the hole. Go figure
