isnt that where the alignment pin on the door slides into its slot? thats about where mine is.

not sure but I think it screws in and is epoxied onto the jamb. smarter folks may be able to confirm.

this is the male part on the door

The alignment pin in your picture, and the corresponding female receiver, are only used on 70-75 convertibles. They were never used on coupes.

69 coupes had a bronze arrow shaped alignment wedge, positioned approximately where those holes are. From the heated rear window in the car pictured, I'd say that car is newer than 69 though?

Check the AIM. There may be a reinforcement at that location behind the lock pillar fiberglass.
