Friday, we're driving over to Champaign, IL for the Bloomington Gold Corvette show.
Saturday, we're headed to DuQuoin, IL for the Car Craft Street Machine Nationals.
So glad the street machine nationals are back. I grew up in So Il and worked a few of them picking up trash as a kid. Great event. Hope the drunks don't ruin it again.
I'm leaving for BG tomorrow. If you are picking 1 day, Sunday might be a bad idea. Even though the events are more into Sunday than last year, vendors have a habit of leaving early and Sundays often disappoint if thats the only day you go.
I'll be going, but hopefully I can finish my suspension upgrade before hand! Its only a 15 minute drive from my house. The Champaign area is extremely excited about this event and the local paper has been covering it very, very heavily. They are expecting 3500 corvettes and have a bunch of events planned. I know there is a cruise on Saturday night to the small town of Monicello about 20 miles away with a really nice downtown square. I was wondering if anyone knows if there will be a swap meet of any kind?
If any of you happen to go, do yourself a favor and try to find Dave hanging around the cars. He is one of the top Survivor judges and one heck of a nice, knowledgeable car guy. Ask him about his '67 L88 that he brought back to life. Tell him Dennis sent ya.
I was wondering if anyone knows if there will be a swap meet of any kind?

I haven't attended since it moved away from central Illinois, but from what I hear, that's not at all a dumb question. Oh for the good old days when there were aisle after aisle of stalls filled with parts and you didn't have to spend what you saved just to get in.
I will make the trip this year just to see for myself how it's changed.
I really wanna go, would be my first, but not going to risk 4 hour drive just to run into nasty weather. Went to Bowling Green today, got to see the C7 so if it does rain me out I will have my Vette fix for a while.

There will be a swap meet, just like there's been every one of the 32 years I've attended.
If you will be disappointed if the swap isnt huge like it was in 1985, don't waste your time. Those days are over and the show is much smaller. It is what it is now.
