Any recomendations for experienced Vette painters in Southeast Missouri? Every shop I've talked to claims to be the BEST....It likes like some overpriced shops are more hype than ability.
The hardest part is that every shops definition of a "quality" paint job can differ greatly. What one guy is so proud of I wouldn't drive on the street, a show quality paint job with overspray all over your engine bay.
The car is in the Bootheel of Missouri, but I'm willing to travel a few hours. St Louis, Springfield. I've seen a few really good paint jobs in the $3,500 to $5,000 range (paint only no major body work) and wonder if these 7,000 to 10,000 paint jobs is more hype than fact.
I seen one VERY high paint job on a Vette, it was so glossy it actually highlighted the overall waviness of a Vette body. I think it made the car look worse than a factory type paint job.

Point well taken. I have seen some small one man shops put out some great paint jobs for far less than the "Corvette" or large shops. I'm not going to shortcut this car .
Check several references... and visually check their work to see if it fits your standards for quality paint job... then check to make sure they still have the same painter as the job that you looked at. A close friend of mine has a shop, and they are expensive but they have national award winning cars to their credit. They only do high end paint jobs... and that means many hours of prep, even on the "ready to paint cars". I would love to have his work on my car... but I can't afford it and that is OK.. I can see the difference but can't pay for the difference.
