i don't have any pics of it but i am pretty sure that bracket actually mounts on the lower dash pad just below and to the right of the air vent on the back lip of the dash pad. The trip odometer reset thingy also mounts onto that bracket. The passenger side bracket is much smaller and mounts to the air box behind the lower dash pad.
hope that helps,
Sully

On a used kick panel I got, the pass side bracket was mounted to the panel
hope someone can post pictures...
thanks
maybe, sorry i didn't clarify. The way I described is how it is on my 72. I didn't think they would be different. Surely someone will have pics. glad to see you are progressing to the interior!!!
The first bracket that you are holding is for the drivers side and mounts to the left lower dash panel, near the hood release. The second bracket is for the passenger side and attaches to the passenger kick panel.
thanks, waiting on my seat belt buckles to come back from chroming and plan to pick up a set of factory style leather, just upholstered seats from a guy next week! interior and car in general likely going to be a lot better than my original rat rod type beater idea..
I think the bracket in the first two pics is for a later model year and looks like it will also hold the odo reset cable and headlight override switch.
Bracket in the third pic looks more like the 69 item.
odd i agree, the first two pics show the drivers side one and the last one is the passengers side bracket. Zip shows the same brackets for 69-77. Also weird is that zip says they mount on the kick panel not the lower part of left dash pad. Very confusing....
the passenger side one that I have, came with an extra passenger kick panel that I bought with a bunch of parts...and the bracket was mounted to the kick panel at the time, which I of course didn't take a picture of how it mounted
my driver and passenger side brackets were not in the car when I got them....so with the interior refreshed I want to mount them in the correct manner...
To be honest, it isn't much of a bracket, all things considered.
Check the AIM. If memory serves, driver's side mounts with the upper trim screw for the kick panel. Pssenger's side could mount the same way or possibly to the rear of the dash panel.
page 24 of Richard Prince's corvette restoration guide saysfor late 68 and 69 flat black bracket holds odometer trip reset which is above the hood release pull and to the left of the headlight and wiper over ride switches. Look on the bottom back left of the lower dash pad and there should be a screw hole for the bracket in the first two pics to mount and then the light goes into that bracket too. I can't find where it says anything about passenger side brackets and light.
is that black **** the headlight override switch people mentioned above? now I have to make sure that is there too...the diagram seems to show the odometer reset there...hmmm...I am going to take a look at my car at lunch, it is amazing how much has been hacked, removed, long gone from my car, thankfully it is almost back to stock as far as switches, brackets, wiring etc.
thanks for the picture!!! I am sure this will help others out too...

My car also has speed warning, so the **** closest to the light is for speed warning indicator. My trip odometer is on the other side and does not have the fancy hex.
It is bad enough when I go onto the parts wanted section and post that I am looking for parts, only to find them clearly boxed and labeled in the barn with all the Corvette parts...it is worse when I come on to see how my replacement kick panel bracket mounts, then peek under the dash to find the original in place....for sale one aftermarket driver side courtesy light bracket..
I spent more than a year looking for original headrests only to find my originals in excellent condition on the car under the incorrect leather covers.
