Default Should I Use an Additive?

I just bought an 81 with a new Pace Performance 350/330 with 380 ft lbs and 9.1.1 compression ratio. Are there any gas and/or oil additives that I should use to enhance performance and prolong engine life?
Thanks.

My advice would be to touch base with Pace and see what they say. That way, you do not inadvertently void your warranty.

Beware also of those that give free advice stating that you need very expensive boutique oils containing massive amounts of ZDDP.

Go to Wally World and stock up on Rotella.

Well that gave me a good chuckle. Sounds pretty accurate to me.

I always add Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious to my engine oil.

Even though the sound of it
Is something quite atrocious
If you say it loud enough
You’ll always sound precocious

Easy Mike said it all in his first post.

I used to use Rotella until I wiped a lobe on my cam. Now I have a roller cam and can use whatever I want. May the saga continue.

What about that "Sea Foam" stuff I've heard about. What's that for/do?

It's excellent when used on gummed-up pre-WWII vintage 2 stroke outboard motors. That's what it was invented for.

Pretty useless/not required on anything else.

You're free to put whatever miracle in a bottle into your gas or oil however.

Thanks.
You should contact Pace.
All the Internet Guru's will not be anywhere near you when you engine is fouled up or busted.

I after having my 71 SBC rebuilt, I have followed R&D's Race Engines instructions to the max. ( no alcohol or treatment if I do use it and ZDDP oils ? )
Pace may feel different but they will be the one you call with an issue.

Use any good top tier (name brand) fuels and oils spec'd for your year engine and be done with it, no need for any additives then.

you need to find out if you have a flat tappet cam or roller..if its flat tappet, you need a brand with zinc in the oil ,mostly during break-in.. Rotella HD is a good oil for that purpose. if its a roller, you can use what you like ..stay away from all the snake-oil additives.

Use a quality gasoline and call the guys that built the motor. The validity of either side of the oil/oil additive argument is irrelevant if you have a motor issue and try to go on warranty and they say öh, you don't have brand X" sorry.

brand X may be the same as brand Y in a lab, but if it voids the warranty: then brand X is better.

good luck
