Default Front and Rear Bumper Covers

I have a 78 with pretty good cracks in both. I've been looking at new covers. Do you think I can replace them cheaper than having mine repaired? And is it something a rooky can do?
Thank for your input, Mike.

Depending how deep and how many stress cracks there are..... repairing them might only be a short term fix and they might come back in a few years.

Repairing them is going to be less expensive but might be a short term solution.

I have not looked at what it would take to replace them yourself but if your brave it will probably take a good 8 hours for a rookie to figure out how to get them off then put the bumpers back on again. There are probably some hard to get to hardware that is rusted and will also need to be replaced.

I'd never fitted Truflex bumper covers in my life before I did mine. Not too difficult if you take your time. Plenty of how-to write-ups here on the forum. I say go for it!!

I'd replace them with fiberglass (my preference) or Tru Flex. Just take your time and you will be fine. Consider buying the mounting hardware with the bumpers if you go that way.

I'm not sure the old, original urethane can be repaired. It might be possible, but you have to consider their age.

I vote to replace, you'd be repairing "old" that is cracked and will continue to crack necessitating further repairs, the car is a '78 & they wont get better ! Fitting new ones will be worth the trouble IMHO , & as suggested it'd be advantageous to get new mounting hardware eliminating a stoppage if your old hardware is unusable. Common sense.
Peace,,, moosie

Thanks for the info. I was also thinking it would be a temp fix. I think I will replace and hope for the best. New hardware was good advice. Thanks,Mike
