That is very impressive work.
I used a regular floor jack to put my doors on and off. I wish I had thought of the trans. jack.

when you are at your local shows people will admire your car and you will tell them what you did,but we saw it first.nice job!

Wow .....those convertible doors are not easy to locate either these days.


I think the general public has zero idea how corvettes can rust out , even being fiberglass. Old Corvettes just need to stay dry all the time if possible. Especially convertibles.

Super nice fix. , having courage to undertake something like that

Me too. I thought that was clever.

What gauge metal did you use? Mine isn't as rust but certainly needs a similar repair.

Anything that was tied to the door structure or that was bonded to fiberglass I used 16 gauge. For patches in the skin I used 22 gauge. I think the GM sheet metal is 18 or 20 gauge; I would've preferred to use that--certainly would have made the welding easier--but it's harder to get, and I had a bunch of the other stuff already.
