Default Need a quote on a 73 corvette

Hey everybody, just joined the forum and wanted a quote on a 1973 corvette i found for sale. The guy selling it is asking $13,000. It has a 350 and a 4 speed. No rust. The motor has been rebuilt and has 30,000 miles on it.

Is it the original 350? What color was it originally before they painted it? Are you sure its not 130000 miles? Are you qualified to say there's no rust in the trouble spots?

Not sure what you mean by a "quote." An insurance quote? A wild guess at the value ? Not a lot of info or pictures (int, undercarriage, engine compt)

It's been customized with wheel well flares, paint, side pipes, wheels, Hurst shifter etc etc.

Value is in the eye of the potential purchased. Somebody might think it's worth 20K, others 8K.

I think it looks cool....the old mags , big meats and flares.....this what guys did to cars. not everybody digs this look. So be sure the not stock look is what your going to be satisfied with in the long run.

see if the block is original.

I like it for a hot rod , I have a serious weakness for Black C3 cars.

price is in the ballpark if everything checks out

please drive it.......to be sure it's what you think your getting

Hummmmm, black and chrome sidepipes . . . . cool
$13,000 is reasonable, but offer less, nobody ever gets what they're asking.

Nice looking 73. One place to compare values of 73's in the market place:

If unsure, hire someone knowledgable about C3's to check it out for you.
Good luck in your hunt.

I think he is saying the motor has 30,000 miles on it. If it was rebuilt with an aggressive flat tappet cam, that's a lot of miles and it probably needs the top end gone through again.

Is there really much of a premium for a base 350? I just can't wrap my head around the idea that #s matching matters all that much with a non-optional motor. Depending on the paint, I'd have to agree its a bit high, but not my much if the interior is nice and everything works and is well maintained. It is, after all, at least a partial bumper car.

Hard to say. The prices seem to be down at the moment due to the economy, etc. I just gave $2800 for a nearly stock '77 (PO added a 200R4) and I drove it almost 60 miles home through the mountains of NC from VA. It is worth what it is worth to you.

I now have two money pits... and loving it!

The difference in value between a '77 and a '73 is rather large. One was the tail end of a classic, high powered sports car, the other, well ... IMHO a sad and compromised reminder of what once was a great automobile before the government got to it, whacked it in the face and in the butt with an ugly stick and stole the motor. Still, a nice basis for a street machine, and a nice and cheap way to get into a C3 that still looks better than the chiseled bar of soap disaster that was to come (fightin' words to some, I'm sure).
