While waiting for some more parts to show up, I've been trying to clean the gobs of dried wax on various body panels & crevices left by the PO (her father!). I pulled the outside door handles off & noticed that there are no gaskets between the handle and the body. Are there supposed to be gaskets there - or is this some weird 1982 thing? The car is very original with minimal bubbafications and has 38k on it.
78-82's never used a gasket, under the door handle. I don't think earlier years did either, but I'm not 100% sure about that. I've never found a part number for them, in any of my Corvette Parts Books.
A quick look at an Assembly Manual, should confirm if your year was supposed to have them. The only year AIM I have in the house, is an 81, and I already know the 81 didn't come with them. My other AIM's are at work, and if I think of it in the morning, I'll take a look at a couple of them.

Thanks!
Most people didn't realize that the handle had a gasket under it.. and really if you think about it, it's easy to understand. The water would just drain out of the bottom of the door. Or.. like you said, bubba did the job and forgot to order them.
