Noticed some 1977 Corvettes at recent shows. I've always heard that some of them had crossed flag fender emblems like 1978 and 1979 cars but I recently saw a '77 with a "Stingray" script emblem on the fenders that the owner assured me were original. I've also heard that some early 77s had no front fender emblems at all. Does anyone know for sure?
I believe the stingray script went through to 1976.
There are multiple threads about this and I am by far no expert but I do know from encounters with other 76 vettes have the last year of the stingray script ....77 has the last year if the flat back window!!

Yep, I have an early 77 with no emblems. Since Chevrolet made such an effort to re-brand the car in 77 and move away from the stingray name I think it is pretty safe to say the guy was wrong. He may have been told bad info by the previous owner.
I also do have stingray badges that I have on the car right now, but I admit they aren't original I shaved the posts off of them and installed they with 3m molding tape so they can be removed.
The '77 owner really believed that the "Stingray" script was original to his car. The car could easily been one of the cars originally built with no fender emblems and the script was added later. The paint on the car was original and showed no signs of having any
modified paint or body work. After your responses, it looks like a P.O. put them on.
