Default RE: 1979 Corvette decode?

Hello, I have a 1979 Corvette. Have to fix the vacuum lines to pass emissions. Have 2 new emissions stickers as the old is missing. One is for an L 82 the other is for the 48. The 48 looks like what I am supposed to have. I believe I have decoded the vin properly and have a 48 despite the hood pins stating L 82. I believe someone along the line switched the hood decals and that has messed with my head. Well here is the vin, want to make sure it's an L-48 or supposed to be off the line. 1z8789s440297. Also want to verify that originally the 48 was not available in California due to smog issues and the 82 was made for California. Curious if I have that right too. Thank you for any information provided!

Your car was built with an L48 engine as witnessed by the 1z878........ in the VIN.

There were no L82s built for CA in 1979, only L48.

The sticker on my '79 was partially painted over, I think by a sloppy used-car perp guy when the car changed hands at one point, so I'm replacing it.

Just FYI...I found there are several for L48's. Mine was a CA (marked in upper left corner of sticker), which is for the non-air pump engines. There were other designations, like XS, XJ, etc. Corvette Central lists a bunch of them available. I never researched what they were all for since I know the CA is the one that was on my car.

Much easier to look at the last two letters of the engine code on the stamp pad.

ZAC and ZAJ were the codes for CA engines.
