Default Troubleshooting interior lights

So I'm tackling the interior/instrument lights not coming on this weekend. I removed the entire dash and have done some troubleshooting. Here's what I've done so far:

- Hooked up temporary 12v+ and temporary ground with alligator clips - varios test lights come on one at a time while testing

- Removed lights from console and hooked up temporary ground with alligator clips - lights do not come on when headlights turned on

- Removed lights from console, hooked up temporary ground with alligator clips and manually fed 12v+ into disconnected headlight switch harness. Lights do not come on

- Manually fed 12v+ on to each end of the fuses in the fuse block to rule out a fuse block issue, lights do not come on

So... I can only surmise that there is some kind of disconnect in between the headlight switch and the bulbs that is opening the circuit. Anyone got any tips for me?

BDoc I had an issue with nonfunctional interior lights also. I replaced all the interior bulbs which was a major PITA but still no lights. Next I checked all the fuses & interior grounds & still no lights. While working on the lights I was rotating the headlight switch for dimming the interior lights & noticed the interior lights would flicker. I bought a good quality replacement light switch not the Chinese made switch from Doc Rebuild installed it & the lights work great. Turns out the rheostat in the old original switch was bad. May or may not be your problem but worth checking.

Thanks for the tip gr8t73.. I was thinking I ruled that out by applying voltage to harness connector on the other side of the switch, but who knows...

Nobody knows? Dang. Well maybe it's a shorted out wire in the harness... will check that this morning.
