I decided to sand down past the paint and primer to see how well the exhaust panel bonded to the body. About 30% of the fiberglass repair will have to be ground out and built up again.
Practice...practice......I didn't prep/remove paint/v-out some areas enough for the fiberglass to bond well.
The driver-side isn't as bad............................
It's 80% where it needs to be...................................... ........
Annnnnnnnnnd THAT'S why Painters make the big $$$$......Craftsmanship!

While there is a lull in the work until tomorrow, I have a Life-Lesson for Corvette Forum Members who have pets:
Dogs are still puppies at heart. Both of my wife's dogs/ages 8 & 10, were watching me post on the Forum this morning.
SO..........I put my laptop down.......slid out of my recliner........laid on the floor....and had a great 20 minutes with the two dogs barking and jumping all over me until we all were worn out. It was a grand time.
I would try the same thing with my adult kids.......but they'd probably call 9-1-1 while searching for my Will in the filing cabinet.......

That looks a looks like if the fiberglass gods be with you...you should be able to get a good bond this time and move on , which you've been doing quite well !

It is all about that 'LEARNING CURVE'. BOY...do I know all about that! Bottom line is you know what to do and how to fix it and making the same mistake will more than likely never happen again. And what is even better is that you have what it takes to keep going.
And for whatever it is worth to you and anybody who reads this. Knowing that this type of work is what I do. And knowing that I am only human. I can tell you that there are times that I also struggle with the demons in my head wanting me to hurry up and just get the repair done..and then also having to deal with experience telling me to slow down and make sure that the prep is correct even it it takes me hours and hours of prep for an hour of laminating.

Yep, Dub....those months I was dealing with personal tragedy were long enough for me to lose what skills I had learned.
