So the tranny went in the truck for the second time in 80k...but that is not the question...I am getting a weird kinda buckling feeling out of the rear end of the vette...like something it stuck or sticking...any ideas?
Well, I would stop and not drive it until I found out what is was that is causing the bucking and repaired it. Many things, I feel, could cause this... Tire comming apart, U-joints, Rear end bearings gone bad, any missing bolts. Any recent work that you did back there. Missing mother in-law "they often get stuck under Vettes being that They and Vettes are so low to the ground" Hope you figure it out soon!
Trailing Arm Bushings, Mono Spring Bushings, as others said the Rear Diff Oil never been changed. Rear end takes 2 quarts of Diff Oil and 4 OZ of LS Additive and I would start there after I inspected all the bushings.
Bearings can be felt with the tires off the ground and shaking the tires for play. In and Out is not always bad mine click a little and the bearings are good but needs to be reshimmed but top to bottom play is really bad than indicated a bearing. Inspect and Yank on all the parts in the suspension.
Jack up the rear end and put jack stands under the frame and start to poke around at the drive train and everything you can see in the suspension. Could just be a bushing that dry rotted and fell apart or could be worse like others have said U-Joints.
ok, checking for something wrong under a c3 for the first time , is like your first visit to,a dentist office in 30 years.
be prepared for a root canal or ten.
all I wanted was to align the rear suspension couple months ago, and wound up re building most of the rear suspension and replacing the front wheel bearings to get a 100 percent alignment frt and rear.
I have no side to side movement with the wheels lifted, however i have about a 1/4 up and down on both wheels...sounds like I am gonna need new bearings, right???? uggghhhhh
