Is it OK to repaint the car in a non factory color scheme?
I have a 78 driver resto-mod money hole
It was white from factory and I think that is boring.
Thoughts on stepping outside the factory scheme of color and painting it like a hot rod. Meaning a cool bright color but not necessarily a true Vette option?
And there ain't a soul on the planet that can tell you what you've done is wrong.
Someone may not like it...but someone may not like my black paint, either.
And my "Sarchasm Radar" pinged like a freaking aircraft carrier at Mr. Dar322's comment.
Do me a favor and don't turn it into some type of wanna-rice deal with wings and flourescent wheels. Or do like Mr. All-The-Gold-On-This-Car-Is-24-Karat like some video that was posted a month or two ago. Keep it classy and vintage and you'll be in good shape.

I agree just trying to understand the overwhelming feelings that some people have about changing the car up a little. I understand that making a clown mobile is very un- but even small changes meet with panic from the purest and I don't get it.
2020 Corvette of the Year Finalist (appearance mods)
C3 of Year Winner (appearance mods) 2019
If were a classic year and all original that might be different. Pick a color you like and go with it. I waited until Sunday when they were closed and visited all of the dealers in town to see the different factory colors on whole cars outside. Much better than paint chips at your living room table.
Have fun!

If your worried about what most people think, relax. The majority of non Corvette owners do not have a clue about the cars They don't know how they are suppose to run and most don't realize there care chrome bumpers and rubber bumpers. Make the car for your on enjoyment. good luck.

I don`t get it either. It`s MY car! Paint it whatever makes you happy. If you really want to blow some minds, pick a Ford or Dodge color!
I`m planning on a few subtle changes for our 71....
1. moved center grill forward to sit flush with the valance panel
2. headlight covers (under the doors) are black, NOT body color
3. wiper door trim & fender corner trims are stainless, NOT body color
4. black paint removed from sides of "Stingray" emblems
5. 4 stop/ tail lights, move reverse lights to license tag area
THAT ought to drive all the experts wild at the car shows. And when somebody points out one of my incorrect features, I`ll offer them bonus points if they can spot them all, then I`ll laugh as they walk away mumbling!

I modified my 66 and won 19 trophies out of 22 shows we entered. The purest would often huddle and mumble when I sent my son up to get the trophies. I always entered shows that were participant judging
That's the key
Lost the 66 in divorce sold it for a song to pay lawyers the 468 in my avatar is what was in the old girl
