Is anyone using a different throttle cable bracket other than the standard one that comes on the cars from the factory. I just changed carbs and I can`t get a full throttle opening on my new carb no matter how I adjust mine.
I went to a 600 Holley and the throttle cable also has a really big curve in it. I was reading that I may need to get another throttle cable for it too. Would a BB throttle cable work better?

You might want a return spring bracket too. The spring location on the above bracket was too high and made the spring almost go over center at WOT. This made the throttle very light at WOT and I didn't like it. I can take some pictures tonight.

Yes. This was my solution. It's an available aftermarket option. I wanted to reuse the factory throttle cable and after cutting off the plastic collar, I fabricated a clam shell around the unprotected cable sleeve. The set screw tightens against the shell on the sleeved cable to secure. The shell allows for some back and forth adjustability without any compromise.
I have since changed the return springs to slightly heavier units. This pair was too light, not returning to idle quickly enough. Works like a champ now.
If you're not changing to a Holley 4150-type of carb then this may not work for you but it is an option if you do.
I looked at all of them and this is what I used. I liked the very clean look and ease of set up for different carbs. The cable should be cut for the proper length so 24" length will work.

Thanks Dustup I just set mine up exactly like yours. Works great!
I had to use a Lokar cable and bracket on mine as well, with the new Holley the accel cable kept sticking at WOT, needless to say that was changed out real quick.
Thanks for the replies... I was glad that this older thread was focused on my exact issue... its great that the historical records can ideally resolve problems for others at a later date. The older thread indicated that there was not an OEM solution to the desire to keep the OEM throttle cable. I was hoping that the forum could confirm that the link to the new bracket I sent was indeed a the bracket to allowing me to use the oem cable. It looks like it will work in that application, but it would be nice if someone has used this bracket prior. Thanks again.
If you look in my picture album you will see what I used on another project.
It is a HLY-20-88 throttle cable bracket & double return spring to use the OEM cable.
