My car sat in the garage for several months while I rebuilt the suspension and did other dirty work. I finally got it back on the road a couple of days ago and have discovered that it has rattle can overspray all over it from where my relatives painted various odds and ends as they made decorations for my brother and sister-in-law's anniversary celebration. I can see it and feel it but I'm afraid to start trying to clean it until i get some better advice. The car was partially covered but the white overspray is very obvious on my black paint and I didn't notice it until I washed the dust off. I need help.... I'm a far better mechanic than detailer.
I need product and procedure recommendations. Thanks!

I used Meguiar's Cleaner Wax on my DD when my nephew did the same thing last year. This product is great for removing swirl marks and oxidation, so it's not too aggressive. I'd try something like that first, and stay away from anything too porous or granular to start with. Also, wouldn't want to put any mineral spirits or turpentine products on there either. The rattle can is just sitting on the clear coat, so you should be OK. Good luck.
Didn't Corvettes through '80 made in Bowling Green have lacquer paint? No clear here. I actually tried Meguiar's Cleaner Wax on it last night. Can't tell much difference other than it is shinier. There has to be something out there that will remove the spray without too much damage to the paint.
I would recommending using detailing clay first. There are different grades of clay but usually the ones they sell at the auto stores are "fine".. If you have never used it before here is a vid from autogeek:
I went to the parts store tonight and picked up some supplies. Going to try the clay bar tomorrow. The video that karol linked was the kicker. Thanks to all!
