i know this is not a corvette but I was hoping that yall you help me with this, I am trying to find my dads first car, the only lead I have is an old insurance card of his, he dident write the VIN down just the license plate number. I already called the DMV and they cannot look up the VIN from an old tag number, where do I go from here? is all hope lost?
What kind of car is it? If it's a musclecar or sports car, or any kind of car that has a following, there may be an on line registry or forum like this one you can check/post on. It's a bit of a long shot, especially if it's not rare, but it's something.
I also have a saved search on ebay for 78 Trans Ams. I had a Solar Gold one way back in the early 80's that I'd like to find. I get updates in my email every day for every one that goes up for auction. There are also a couple of sites like SearchTempest where you can do a nationwide Craigslist search. I do that once a week or so, when I remember.
he bought the car in Ganado Texas, used from a farmer he was working for back in 1977. he sold it in 1981 when he purchased a new 81 C10. it was a 1974 Monte Carlo Landau. my grandmother threw away all the old paperwork, we have the name of the person he sold the car to but cannot find their phone number.
You might be able to find the person that they sold it to. There are people finder services on the internet, but be wary, they often inadvertantly hook you up with all kinds of services you don't want. If it's an unusual name, then you might be in luck.
