After years of mods on the engine I finally made it to the track. Godda hand it to some of you guys - you make it look easy slipping down the track with your consistant times. 1st time down the track I was a mess. 15.9 secs and 87 mph , burning rubber in 1st and 2nd , *** end weaving all over hell. The announcers comments were "the driver of that Corvette is probably filling his pants now...." Each time I took the vett down the track though I did better. So heres the best time sheet and a pic. I'm in the left lane on the timesheet (and pic)
So here are some questions - oh Gurus..
What kind of things does this time sheet tell you about the car and its potential?
Can you tell how much hp the engine is making?
If I bought slicks - how much time could I slice off my et?
Do you guys drain fluids after race day / and should I ?
Any tips for an extreme nubee / old guy on track day? Like what kind of 'stuff' to take. Needs to fit in the car - 2.5hr drive.
Is it worth while running open headers?
Thanks

Congrats on the good run. What tires were you using? How about some specs on the car: engine, trans, rear. That 1.83 sixty time could be cut by a tenth based on comparing to my car. That could drop your ET by 2 tenths.
You can estimate your HP on several websites using your car weight vs speed. It will probably show about 360.
No need to drain fluids, assuming they were good to begin with. I put about 40 runs per year on my car running the same oil and trans fluid all year.
I run closed headers so I'm not sure of the impact.
As for what to bring, a tire pressure gage and a triple A card.
I initially left the tire pressure at 32lbs, then dropped it to 22lbs. To low for stock tires?
When you suggest I reduce my 60' , I do that by a quicker reacion time?

(If this was in the Tech/Performance section you'd probably have more guys commenting)
Your reaction time has nothing to do with your ET or 60 ft time etc. Your ET clock starts when you move not when the green comes on.
I was using BFG 255/60/15 street tires at first. I think 32 psi is good for those. I had a 1.8 60 ft time occasionally, then the next run would be 2.1 - very erratic. I'd say your setup should have similar potential to my car. I just ran 12.35 ant 109.49 last Saturday.
Get those drag radials, and a line lock.

When you went with slicks did you end up beefing up your rear or was it fine?

I'm using street legal drag radials, not slicks. There would be no benefit using slicks for me since the car dead hooks now.
Before I switched to the drag radials, I had the diff rebuilt by Bair's. They replaced the clutches, bearings and stub axles and put in new 3.73 ring and pinion. I replaced all 6 u joints with solid Spicers, replaced the inner u joint u bolts with billet caps and added half shaft loops. This setup has held up fine.
Not to hijack this thread but the Park is on County Rd 628 (Bunnvale Rd), off of Rt 513.
Thanks
couperdecar, Nice run for first time out. I've been wanting to get my vette to the track for a while...one of these days. I think I will definitely need to get drag radials to hook up though.
I used the online calculator and it says to get my car down the track that fast requires aprox. 370hp. Anybody else use these online calculators? Is this rear wheel hp or crank hp?
