Default Water pump install

Thanks Craig - I try my best.

A few incremental updates...

I didn't figure out which of the four water pump bolts needed thread sealer with the Dart SHP block, so I used it for all of them:

Default Rear license plate light

Note to self: in case I go through this again in the future, it's preferable to create the slot and holes in the fiberglass bumper cover for the rear license plate light BEFORE the rest of the body (like primer and slick sand), not AFTER!

In the middle of the material removal:

Testing the opening with the light installed:

Default Prepping the TKO 600

For the unused mechanical speedometer cable, I replaced the rubber plug that came with the SST kit with a billet aluminum piece:

Filled up the gearbox with the Pennzoil fluid that came with the kit - one of the few accepted options from SST. Gravity helped:

Default New hardware cabinet

Wish I had this during the last 10 years. I spent a couple weeks organizing and filling this new cabinet with my hardware that was spread in multiple locations, and building a support with casters.

More to come soon...

Default Feeding the Sniper

Completed the last couple feet of fuel conduit, between the 10-micron filter and the Holley Sniper EFI. Included a fuel pressure gauge.

Default Wet sanding & buffing

I did a bit of wet sanding of the exterior light grey single stage paint to reduce the orange peel. Unfortunately I was afraid of cutting through it so did not smooth it all the way. In retrospect I should have sprayed one more coat when I did the paint job to give me the confidence to remove all the orange peel.

Default Rear lights harness

Another thing I did was build a harness from scratch for the rear lights. It's a lengthy process but it turned out nice.

Default Back together

Ladies and gentlemen, and esteemed automotive enthusiasts,

We are gathered here today to witness a truly extraordinary moment – the reunion of this remarkable body with its long-lost rolling chassis. Just as two souls find each other in love and matrimony, so too do these components come together to create a masterpiece of engineering and artistry.

In the presence of this devoted assembly of car aficionados, I hereby declare that the moment has arrived for this body and rolling chassis to be united as one. With precision and craftsmanship, they shall combine their strengths, their essence, and their purpose to embark on a new journey, a journey that will see them conquering roads and leaving trails of awe and admiration in their wake.

As the body and rolling chassis come together, let us remember that this reunion symbolizes the harmonious collaboration of form and function, beauty and power. Just as love brings joy and fulfillment to our lives, this union brings life to this exquisite automobile, breathing existence into its very core.

Let us witness this moment with great excitement and anticipation, knowing that we are witnessing the birth of an extraordinary machine, crafted with passion and care, and destined to leave an indelible mark on the hearts of all who encounter it.

With the joining of this body and rolling chassis, we celebrate the marriage of design and engineering, of art and mechanics, in perfect harmony. May this automotive union stand the test of time, conquering every challenge that comes its way, just as a loving couple faces life's trials together, hand in hand.

So, with boundless enthusiasm and admiration, I pronounce this body and rolling chassis united in automotive matrimony. Let the engines roar, and let this beautiful journey begin!

You may now rev your engines in celebration!

If you think I wrote the text above, you're wrong. I just asked ChatGPT to "Adapt a wedding wording 'I hereby declare you husband and wife, etc...' to a body reuniting with its rolling chassis.", and that was its first answer.

Default Old Air

Thank you! If I have to separate them again, it'll mean that something went wrong.

Well, look at that. More boxes full of goodies:

Dry fitting the compressor with the kit's brackets:

It didn't go without a hitch. I had to grind the spacers to accommodate the 1 7/8" Doug's headers:

As a side note, since I won't be starting the engine for a long while, I sprayed some fogging oil into the cylinders:

The compressor brackets after painting:

The brackets installed:

Default Small cuts

I had to butcher the firewall to make room for various hoses of the Vintage Air kit. I cut the minimum out and made it look OK:
