Nice Pair!
This kind of nice pairs! The poor 95', stuck in the back of the shop, trapped behind the engine hoist and the 460 boat motor for weeks and finally got it out Saturday. Had to snap a pic of the two of them, side-by-side on a nice crispy Fall day!I'm the second owner on the '95. The original owner was a friggin' fanatic about keeping it clean! I followed the three rules of used Corvette buying: One Owner, Upscale Neighborhood and Corvette Fanatic. Plus it had to be a super clean car (and it was).
I disregarded all those rules for the '74; unknown amount of owners, low income - so so neighborhood and sort of a car guy, but had other more worthy projects. The car choose me and I obeyed!

I'm still obeying! I sensed "More money!" this week from the '74. Ok, ok, I'll throw more money at you, but I have to think about it next time (yeah, right!).

And yes, they're nearly the same length, I just didn't back up the Red One, all the way back.
Love the Gran Prix, they had very cool interiors, that were very aircraft like! The 71's were certainly 'interesting' front end wise, with the Endura sport bumper, but I liked the way they were done. Nothing shy about a 71' GTO, that's for sure! I'd love to get my hands on a '73 GTO, as they were the last of the 'big' Goats and I always thought that that body style was neat.
But seriously, having two of these things can be demanding! I replaced the entire set of A/C hoses on the 95 and it still has to go back to the shop (not mine), to get the leak diagnosed, But I've been throwing so much money at the '74, that it has become hard to make the AC repair on the 95 happen!!! And it's been a number of months....

God, I must be crazy!

Now, if only these two 'Vettes could take turns raping my wallet, instead of both of them at the same time!!!
I LOVE the color on your 74! Need more pics of that!
The Dark Metallic Brown, is actually the original paint, patina and all, including stress cracks, oxidization, etc, polished to glass. So close up, it's got 39 years of 'history' talking to ya!
I really love the color too and now the Dark Metallic Browns are the 'In' color for the high end BMW's, MB's and Lexus cars, and a host of others, including the Ford Explorer (Kodiak Brown) and other brands.
Allow me to share a personal story. It was about six months ago or so, that one of our C3 forum members, had a 74' BB 'Vert, that was originally Dark Metallic Brown and it broke my heart to see him paint it 'Red'. In fact, I think he painted it, the same color as my 95', that totally blazing Torch Red.
Sure it's his car and he can do anything he wants to it, but I thought, that if he would've kept it that original color, he would've had a very, very rare car indeed. It wasn't all that popular back then and I've only seen one or two DkMetBrwns in my entire gearhead life, dating back to the 70's, so it makes you wonder, just how many 74' 454 Convertibles were actually painted that particular color?
I'd bet, that there weren't very many...
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

Nice pair of 'Vettes you have there. I have always liked the LT1 C4's. A good friend of mine had several and let me drive them from time to time. Wouldn't mind having another one.
Late C4's didn't have nearly the same gremlins, but power brake boosters were almost nearly replaced (mine too) as well as floppy door panels! They were better attached in the earlier cars! Just a typical Corvette in many ways.
