Default Windshield trim refinishing

Hi,
As part of my rebuild I am refurbishing the s/steel trim around the windshield, T-tops etc. It is hard to tell if this was factory but some of the trim appears to have been painted in the recesses or 'grooves' if you know what I mean. Is the trim generally polished with black in the 'grooves'? Can anyone tell me what parts are meant to be polished and painted?
Thanks, Colin

In 79 the windshield trim was stainless however painted semi-gloss black.

Back window molding on a 79 is also painted semi-gloss black.

I would suggest going to NCRS.org and ordering their 78/79 judging guide. There is a lot of information in there. Order on the web or call. (you do not have to be a member)

They judge these cars so tell you what to look for. There are also nuances that most people don't know about & because it is accurate.

SGT posted this once for the trim treatment:

Thanks for the info. That answers my question completely. Unfortunately my car isn't exactly going to be an NCRS compliant car as it has been too abused/changed over the years but thanks for the tip anyway. I would like one day to buy something more original, but for now I am just playing with what I have.
Thanks again for your help!
