I need to replace my e brake springs on my 1978 L48 . I ordered them from mid America . Is 3 to each side correct ? I am getting a squeaking noise and this was the diagnosis . Thanks .....
on my 79 there are 4 springs per assembly. top, bottom and one on each side....this was a pain to get back together, but next time it will be easy. When you put the retention cap on the springs on the side, push the pad out so you can see and press the cap on the clip with a screw driver. Once you get there, use needle nose pliers through the access whole on the spindle to snap it in place. That is how the service manual tells you to do it, but I screwed around for a couple of hours trying it other ways before i figured out what they meant.......good luck!
I stumbled across this picture of an e-brake setup without the spindle in the way, helps a lot when trying to remember how it is supposed to go
As far as the install, I was lucky mine was on the bench but here's how I went through it using some string to install the top and bottom springs, might help, might not http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...e-install.html
Thanks everybody , which springs do I need to get ? Corvette central sells 2 kits . The cheaper kit has 4 springs for each side and the more expensive kit has the 4 springs , retainers , clips etc. I am trying to get rid of the squeak ......
Before you get too far in, are you positive it's the e-brake squeaking?
I'd be temped to back off the adjuster and bring the pads in and see what that does before ordering. There's a lot of things around there that can squeak (u-joint, bearing, regular brake pads...)

i would also try to adjust the pads first....springs are a pain. If you buy parts, i would buy the kit unless it is significantly more expensive. Could save time and money in the long run.
