What is this thing?
I am in the process of replacing my fuel gauge in a 72 base coupe.Upon removing the pocket storage and gauge cluster, I found a device that is a mystery to me. It is about 1 inch thick by 4 inches square and made of yellow plastic with some sort of circuit board inside. There are twelve wires connected to this device and I am unable to trace them so far. The box was made by the DANA Corp. and is labeled as a "regulater" and it has 3 adjustment ports, sensitivity, low speed and centering with a terminal release off to one side. If anyone knows what this thing is and what it does,I would sure like to find out about it. Any help would be appreciated.

Post a pic of your box. Off hand, my guess is that it could be part of an aftermarket theft alarm. Based on your description and where you found it, I don't think it's stock.
