Default Thinking about buying a 76?

hello
I am planning to look at a 76 that the co says is all original including the paint (brown), it is a 4 speed with 63k on the clock and it is from the south west region. He is asking $10k obo, if it is in good shape with a few nicks etc, what's it worth? It is a non a/c car.
Thanks
Fleet

That seems awfully high with the little bit of information that youve provided. More info and some pics would help.

You might try to go on eBay and search for completed sales. That'll at least give you some idea of the market.

^^^ more info is needed, what options does it have, is it an L82 or L48, interior condition (interior will cost you a boat load to replace), and yes pictures would help a lot but 10K is too high from what you're saying...

I am in IL and heading out there to visit my brother who is in the hospital, I am well versed in cars as I have had many, just never owned a vette. Camaros, Chevelles and even a Stang or two..

I was thinking of $8 if it is in nice shape... All original is what attracts me, unlike my 69 Chevelle, pretty far from original..

Close to original, but the seller explains the changes he/she has made. Looks like a nice car.

Looks like the only changes were the valve covers and air cleaner and the originals come with the car.. If it checks out I may make an offer... One thing I have learned in the 60 plus cars I've owned, what they say and what you see, are usually 2 different things.. Thanks for the insight..

If you're not too set on a specific year, here is a REALLY nice looking 80' in Phoenix with only 29K miles, 4-Speed and it is loaded.

Just sayin'

I'm not sure what you consider "smog stuff", but a 76 and an 80 are about equal, both have catalytic converter, egr valve, pcv valve, evaporative canister and related hoses, air injection manifold, air pump etc

I paid $7K, 12 years ago, for a #matching L-48 with about 40K miles on it.

Be prepared to spend MORE money for performance parts later, if you are like me. I have about $3000, maybe more, invested in the stroker engine, clutch, exhaust, etc.

Sound way high to me too. Here is my '76 that I purchased in August and I paid $5,600 for it and it is in excellent condition.

BLDun what we pay is dependent on what part of the country we make the purchase.your car looks sweet for that price.our cars can look sweet though and hide troubled innards.only the test drive reveals this to some extent.prices were definitely higher in my neck of the woods where corrupt politicians must get their cut.

BLDUN-Real nice 76 for that price!!!!!!
MRFLEET!@= I think $10,000 is too high. I just spent $12k on mine for a paint job that included fitting of both bumpers, new front fender, stripped down to fiberglass, and yearly polish of car for free. I know that the car has been completely gone thru, with new interior, fiberglass rear spring, rebuild a-arms, third member gone thru, all new front end parts, alum wheels, new tires and brakes, alum parking breaks, new u-joints, frame-on restro, new door & T-tops seals, windows gone thru, re-moveable rear window with shelf to store it, trans gone thru, motor original but strong as a L-48 is.
Alum radiator, motor area restored. Alum valve covers. All original parts and radio have been store for it. Sport mirrors, cruise control off a 80 installed on it. A/C is cold etc. power antenna, new car cover(never on car yet). deluxe interior. Famous 76 vega steering wheel.

I doubt if I could get $12k from most people for it! It would take someone that knows how much work I have put in it to get more.

Iceax-My 76 (all original when I bought it) does not have the AIR pump, must be a California car to have that???? The rest can come off if not needed, the converter came off a long time ago with an off road pipe that fit in it's place, now with headers, and true duals it runs a little better!

'76 L-48 (I own one) did not have air injection manifold or air pump.

Thanks everyone.. We'll see what it looks like and what the seller is willing to take.. Not married to it... This is more my speed (69 BB Chevelle) , just never owned a vette, looking for an entry level to park beside the Chevelle..
