Spark plug reach

Funny observation I thought I'd share. I'm doing a 69 frame off resto. The po has a 350 with the edelbrock performer package on it. Heads , intake , carb , cam the works. While cleaning the engine for paint I pulled a plug out and peered into the head only to realize the plugs only went into the head half way! Seems the po was using to original head plugs with 7/16" reach instead of the 3/4" (iirc) correct ones. Makes me think that cool "camming out"sound may have not been all cam!

Well you just found a boost in performance. Right plugs and you'll have more compression and better flame propagation. Pretty funny though.

350 or smwller V 8 Chevy engines do not use 3/4 reach plugs

These are edelbrock performer 6086 (iirc)
Aluminum heads and their reach is 3/4.

Yep aluminum heads 3/4" reach.
