Thanks ,,I am not a big fan of the heat shields,so I thought this will do the job, The pipes are OBX with Max flow inserts. Man they sound mean. here is a link to some more pictures. If it works right http://s797.photobucket.com/user/paulybuilt/library/

unleash the chrome man. Getting burns is a non factor after the first one haha. But i think you should loose the wrap, also I heard that the wrap keeps moister in so you could have some rust issues. Good choice with the max flows though, I got the same set up as you.

I think you are going to shorten the life of your sidepipes.

Can't say I've seen side pipes wrapped before. I burned my leg once ~ a painful lesson I learned well and haven't repeated.

If the pipes are stainless, you're not going to have any rust issues.
Besides, even if it does get wet, that wrap will dry out in 10 minutes of driving. Unless you keep the car parked out in the rain or in a damp barn all the time, that whole moisture argument is kinda out the window...
Looks good!

Thanks for your replies ..sorry about the dark pictures, cam sucks. They are stainless so they also kept turning different colors all the way down, kind of unevenly , from the heat. I wasn't digging that look either .This way maybe a little less to polish also.

I know you said you don't like the look of heat shields, but personally, if you're going after a tougher (less clean) look, plus the burn protection I'd go with the Cobra style chrome or stainless shields with the slots or round holes...that's my plan anyway...

You've got a pretty drastic change from the norm...just my .02

LOL......back in the day---the color of the chrome pipes let people know how you drove your car/rode your Harley that day.....

blue tinted chrome = 60 to 70 mph

purple tinted chrome = 100+ mph

ahhhhhhhhh........memories.

Just my 2 cents, I'm going to wrap my headers from the engine flange to just before they come out from under the fender, the headers will be ceramic coated before I wrap them.
My reasoning on doing this is to remove as much heat from the engine compartment as possible. Not sure if I'm going to put a heat shield on yet. Lots of time before I get to that decision. One concern I have is making sure I can cool the cockpit.
