So I'm contemplating selling my restored 75 and starting over restoring a 73... I really only have room for one toy car, so I'd have to make room.
On the one hand starting over on a new project/restoration is exciting, but a piece of me is thinking I'm crazy to want to move from a vehicle I've worked so hard on for so long.
The whole opportunity got me to thinking. How many vettes have you had? Or do you still have? What were they? What made you sell one, buy another, etc.???
I don't think you are crazy for wanting another project. I think about that all the time and I am not even completely finished with the 71 I have been on for four years. This is the first Corvette that I have had titled in my name.
There is no explanation to car insanity. You either have or you don't. For myself it goes along with other irrational behavior that many of us have. The only explanation you need is, you can't have too many cars, and that is the same as: You can't have too many motorcycles. You can't have too many guitars. You can't have too many guns. You can't have too many big screen TV's. You can't have too many ........
I have three. My driver/project 80 and then two 77's I intend to work on over the winter to make one good car out of. One great rolling chassis with a rough body and interior and one very rusty rolling frame with a great body and interior. By spring I hope to be down to two good cars and a bunch of 77 and leftover 80 parts for sale.
I'm always looking for a good deal so i will get another (buy or trade) if the opportunity presents itself. I really want a rubber bumper convertible.

Presently I have 5 Vettes. 61, 65, 68, 69, C6 Z06. I have owned about 25 over the last 42 years. I really don't have another restoration in me . It's enough work keeping them all clean and running properly. If you want to do the resto then you should do it.
Life is short. While others sit, bending elbows in bars (and spending $$ accordingly) bitching and moaning about boats being 'holes in the water,' classic cars being 'money pits,' and ex wives being expensive mistakes, you'll be busy doing what makes you happy. And from where I sit, happiness usually doesn't occur doing what others think you should.

Glad I`m not the only one! This is our first Vette, but we`ve done a lot of cars over the last 30 years. Some we built, then played with, but sold.... 57 Chevy-- 66 LeMans-- 72 Chevelle-- 60 Chevy truck-- 61 Chevy truck-- 31 Chevy-- the ones we have now are below....
I've had 1969, 1978, 1979, 1989, 1994, 1995, 1996 Vettes and lots of other muscle cars.
For me its the enjoyment of the restoration and modifications. I never really "complete" them before something different catches my eye. That's why I've got a Z28, GTO, Cutlass and two Vettes that are in different stages of restoration in my shop.
I've had a '57,'58,'60,'63, 3 '65s,'66,'67,'68,'69,'70,'71,'72,'73,'75 ,'81, and a '93, so 18 in all. A couple have been major projects, and the majority of the rest have needed work to some degree. I have always enjoyed working on them. Usually before I get a car completed and on the road I'm already looking for the next one. Currently I have the '75 convertible and the '93 40th Anniversary coupe. I've done the same with an assortment of a few GM muscle cars, and have a '55 Chevy I'm doing a Gasser build on.

I have three to work on and get running, a 68 Camaro a 74 Trans Am 455 SD a 91 Stealth two 64 Galaxie 500 XLs ...........ALL under construction. My wife doesn't understand. At least I can't say that I don't have anything to do.
She just wants me to take Posti Notes out to the shop and put reserves on everything before I checkout.
Some things are naturally a part of American history. I would think that finding a Vette to restore would be similar to finding an historic American rifle that needed preserving, or finding a Document from one of our founding leaders, or finding a rare coin, etc.
Happens all the time here too. If I want another vette, and eventually I always do, the current car has to go.
I am on my 9th, a 75,65,80,75,72,69,69,68 and my current 77.
One car garage here also. I just cant see working years on a restoration, spend tens of thousands on the car to make it beautiful, and then leave it parked outside under a car cover. Also, it has to be inside for classic insurance coverage anyway. Good luck with your decision.
I currently have five. A 2008, 2002, 1981, 1976 ( being restored) and a 1973 ( almost finished being restored). I had a 1969 that I sold, and another 76 that I also sold.
