Just wanted to say that I'm finally in the club! I've been talking for years about buying a Corvette but just never pulled the trigger. My dream car has been a C3 since I was in college. Anyhow, for my 40th birthday my wonderful wife surprised me with a 1976 L-48 that has been kept and stored indoors for it's entire life. Not a hint of rust on this car, which I read is one of the most important things about buying a used corvette. Now i have Dirk Digglers car! It's not perfect however and needs a few things fixed, like a slow passenger side window and a slow right front headlight rise and fall. I'd like to fix several of the minor problems just to get familiar with the car and later move onto some of the suggestions here about moding the engine for more HP although I'm a little nervous about that.
So I guess my first question is what manuals are a must have for this car? I've noticed there is a rubber hose on the front of the carburetor that doesn't seem to go anywhere. It would be nice to have a book with diagrams that I could look at and see where that should go. This is just an example.
Sorry this was an introduction that turned into a ramble. Again, thank you and bee talking to you all at lot in the future!
The aim was apparently used on the line as reference. It's not user friendly but it is worth it's weight in gold to have both a paper copy for the shop and an electronic copy for researching in comfort on the computer and it's easy to search.
I use the manual less than the aim but it will tell you how to work on your car.
Restoration manuals are out there and handy.
All are avail at the usual suspects, look to the left for vendors.
Find a club to pick everyone's brain, and this forum is invaluable. Learn to search it properly.
As to your question, agree get a 76 Assembly Instruction Manual (or AIM).
Also for the GM 76 publications, there is a 74 Service Manual, 74 Overhaul Manual, 76 Supplement Service/Overhaul Manual and 76 Electrical Wiring booklet. All can be had from Helm or check Ebay and various vendors.
Plus this forum is the greatest, so you came to the right place.
Have fun!

Welcome aboard!
I agree Welcome and congrats
Get the assembly manual put it in a big three ring binder. That way as you find PDFs along the way you can print and put them into your book.
Congrat's! I just bought my first one a month ago also a 76! Mine is no where near the condition yours sounds like but I love to work on things and am in no hurry to get it done!
Thanks you all for the welcome! I can tell this is going to be a great forum to be part of. I also bought the AIM book and a restoration book with a high rating from Amazon. I also, when said there was no rust, I meant the frame and body has no rust. The engine has some but I expect I'll be cleaning all that up in the future.
Anyway, this is the best picture I could take because it's been raining. I love it and so excited to get started! I'll add more pictures in the future.
