This Ki 43 isn't real, is it? Very cool either way!
I flew... Right up to the point that I got married. . Would love to get back into it, but it isn't in the cards right now. Still love aircraft and aviation in general.
I just retired from the AF, flew with Express Jet for a few months, and I'm now with Lockheed Martin. The Bonanza was a bucket list purchase, much like the Vette project.
Airbus sim... we had a flock of birds set up right in front of us...I flew the 'Bus for a airline out of Denver .. Ki-43 was a Texas Airplane Project ....
I got my private pilot's license 20+ years ago, but kids came along and I wasn't financially able to fly enough to stay as sharp as I felt I needed to be. Being a young married enlisted guy with one kid, and a wife that stayed home, didn't allow for many hours of flying time. This was driven home for me on my last ever solo flight, when I was coming in to land with a pretty steady cross wind, and the wind got under the upwind wing and rocked the plane (a 172) up on the right gear and nose wheel. I damn near dragged the right wingtip on the ground, and could actually feel the right gear tire rolling off the wheel. I managed to get it all gathered up, and decided right then that I was done. If I wasn't going to be able to fly enough to stay razor sharp, I had no business being up in a plane. I could never justify the cost since I didn't have any reason to fly other than for the pure pleasure of it. I have no regrets, and have moved on to other pursuits, but I do love airplanes to this day...particularly WWII fighters and bombers...nothing sounds better than a big radial engine idling on the ramp or a Rolls Royce Merlin engine making a high speed pass.
I will always be a pilot, that is something that can never be taken away from you, but I am not current.
NAVY helo pilot, I now fly the H-60R, through flight school i flew the traditional 172, then the new texan II T-6B, and an old bell 206. No photos of the vette with any of the aircraft but its something i need to do.

Thank you for your service.
I am in college on a USAF scholarship, and I graduate in May '14. I am building flight time and working on getting my privates before I go in. I will be an officer in the USAF.
My dad was a Capt. in the USAF and flew KC-135's back in the 80's and Desert Storm. He is with American Airlines now, and has been since returned from combat. He is also a FED. I am working on following in his foot steps
Nice V tail, my grandpa had one of those back in the early 70's.
Just read a bit about the Oscar project... Didn't know that this was being done, but very cool stuff! I would imagine that all of the aircraft are built and flying at this point?
Postal123,
I see that you're located in Tucson. Did you fly out of Davis-Monthan while still in the USAF? If so, did you happen to know Col. Chance? He owns a really nice 1971 LT-1 that he's been working on for a while.
Brandon, thanks for saying 'thanks' and the best of luck to you! I loved the flying, but grew tired of the bureaucracy...you will love it, but someday you'll understand what I just told you... God Speed!
Stan, yes and yes...I actually flew the A-10 for 14 years continuously bouncing between DM and Osan in Korea. Was forced into a non-flying assignment towards the end so I returned to Tucson and worked in the Southcom Air Ops Center...indirectly worked for "Last" Chance a few months before retiring. His car is pretty...
I'm still in the process of relocating from Tucson to CA with the new job...

Learned to fly in college. Many hours in 152's and 172's. Now I sell corporate aircraft and do consulting work. Here's one I have for sale....
There is an identical one of those with a black paint job with the engines missing on it sitting on the ramp at general aviation at TYR (Tyler, Tx) that has sat for at least 5 years. It is pretty sad. But best of luck on the sale.

You're welcome, and I know…I here it all of the time with my dad. He has been flying airplanes for 40 years. He knows what he is doing to say the least.
