That is a bunch. Check the idler arm and the rag joint for looseness. Also check the tie rod ends. The steering box has some adjustment using slotted screw/locknut on top but you need to research the how-to part of that or yo can mess things up.
The above information is very correct. (i.e. inspecting tie rods, flexible coupling, movement or lack of movement of the pitman arm with someone rotating the steering wheel back and forth, etc).
This paper describes a method of adjusting the manual gear sector shaft with the gear still in the car. You need to make the adjustment with the gear right on center (as described). Otherwise, you can damage the gear. http://jimshea.corvettefaq.com/?p=810
The official, correct method of adjusting the gear is with the gear out of the car and using a sensitive inch-lb torque wrench. But using the above method will lead you to determine if the gear is the real culprit.
You need to repair the other loose components first---that way, you will solve safety-related problems so you don't end up losing control of the car
(the front wheel and spindle assembly fell off my daughter's firebird--a faulty ball-joint gave way......We're just glad she was turning into a parking lot and NOT going down the highway a minute earlier!!!)
