Been wanting an LS powered Vette (C2 or C3) for quite a while. Back in 2009 I bought a ’68 Vert for that purpose but changed my mind. Well I got the bug again and started looking for a C3 preferring a Chrome Bumper but no luck finding correct (condition & price) to do engine swap. After almost giving up I located a ’79 that already had LS3 (GM Crate 525HP) and Tremec 5 speed installed. After working with owner on details & price about Vette I had high school buddy who only lived about 10 mile from where car was go check it out. He took photos, video taped and drove to check it out for me. Even video taped dyno run I requested from PO. Deal was complete and now I am proud owner of 3 VETTES (1965, 1979, 2011)
Have only driven 15-20 miles checking thing out. So far everything is OK except for drivers window with falls short about ½ inch of going all the way up. BUT A/C, Heat, Radio, Wipers, Door locks, lights and everything else works. Car also has new Lectric Limiter wiring harness installed.
FYI… 392HP --- 390TQ @ rear wheels or about 485HP (flywheel) through stock mufflers.

Nice to see how much the crate 525 LS3 puts to the tire. I was thinking around 400 through an auto so that is a little less than I had hoped (wonder if the dyno was with the filter right on the front of the TB as seen in one photo..)
Looks like a cool car and will definitely be a good starting place for whatever you decide to do with it!

Dyno was with Filter as seen it top pic below.
LS3 was at that time Drive-by-Cable as delivered. Later switched over to Drive-by-Wire which requires MAF to be per instruction "The induction system should be 4" in diameter and have a mimimum straight section 6" in length. Mount the MAF sensor in the middle of the straight induction section, ensuring that the middle of the boss is at least 10 inches from the throttle body." Bottom pic
